Mary Bonney is a producer working across television, film and stage with an extensive background in physical production and roots in the music industry and comedy performance. She brings a genre-savvy approach to character-driven stories, particularly those exploring identity, community, and reinvention.
At Entertainment One, Mary worked across television shows for ABC, FOX, Showtime, and Freeform.
As VP of Production at Crypt TV, the digital horror studio backed by Eli Roth and Jason Blum, Mary produced nearly one hundred episodes of premium horror content amassing more than half a billion views across digital platforms. She oversaw production of several of the studio’s most successful original monster franchises, including The Door in the Woods and Mira Mira, which expanded into series on Peacock.
As a line producer, she oversaw John Travolta’s directorial debut Propeller One-Way Night Coach, an Apple Original Film premiering at Cannes 2026, the Emmy-winning series children’s series Tab Time and the NAACP Image Award-winning docuseries Daring Simone Biles. Her projects have screened at festivals like SXSW, Tribeca, SeriesFest and more. She’s worked with companies like Amazon, Google, The Duplass Brothers and Vanishing Angle.
Mary is also an active force in musical development, producing stage and digital productions under her banner Maryment Entertainment including One Up: The Musical (Best Musical Hollywood Fringe 2025), Break: The Musical (Best Soundtrack Indie Series Awards) and Les Millénniables (LA Times “Pick of Fringe”). She also serves as Treasurer of the Foundation for New American Musicals.
She is a member of the Television Academy and Women in Film. Her creative philosophy is rooted in the improv comedy principle of “yes and,” shaped by her training at UCB and performances on house teams at iO West and ComedySportz.
Mary’s career began in the music industry at Doghouse Records (Warner Music Group) in NYC, relocating to LA to work for the LA Music Blog. As a music journalist, she’s covered hundreds of concerts and is a lifelong Paramore fan after winning a video contest to sing backup vocals on their Grammy-nominated album RIOT!
